Battle Cry

Battle Cry is a powerful prayer of spiritual warfare - where every attack is met with truth, every wound with resilience, and every battle is surrendered to God in victory.

Dear Lord,

my enemies are coming against me -

mounting like waves,

seeking to disarm me.

Their vain imaginations

envisioning my downfall;

they secretly wait

to see if I will crumble and fail.

Lord my Banner,

the scars and wounds increase

as they attack,

intending for my end.

They will fail -

for the Lord of Hosts is with me.

Coming as one,

they will scatter in seven different ways.

Their weapons,

I'll trample beneath my feet.

Their defense is broken,

like the walls of Jericho.

Hear the shofars blowing fiercely,

while the Mighty Man of War,

releases arrows to confound them.

And I will stand upon the rock,

holding my shield to my chest,

breaking through

impenetrable enemy lines.

Taking my sword by faith -

cutting down the adversary,

as a scream erupts from my lungs,

"THIS BATTLE BELONGS TO THE LORD."

My Sword and Shield,

I raise my head to my foes,

because You have lifted my head.

They are looking for my end,

but I will live and not die.

I will live to declare the works of the Lord.

I am a conqueror.

I will weep, but I will stand.

As the Lion of Judah roars,

so will it echo through me - shattering their weaponry.

As the Eagle soars above the storms,

so will I rise above my enemies.

The Lord is on my side -

my Strong Tower.

Lord, I release another battle cry...

a sound of victory.

Reflection:

There are times when we must pray and contend over situations in our lives. We cannot stand idly by while the enemy wreaks havoc - stealing, killing, and destroying. It is in those moments that we must fight fiercely on our knees. Matthew 11:12 reminds us that the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.

This is what Battle Cry is about - a prayer of contention. We must fight to overcome obstacles, enforce divine authority, break strongholds, and, more importantly never give up and never back down.

Too often, we look to run when things begin to intensify in our lives as we pray over our situations. However, this is a battlefield. The enemy will not easily retreat simply because we release a few arrows - he will strike back. Remember Jesus in Luke 4:1-13. The enemy did not stop the first time when Jesus rebuked him - he came again, and again. That is also the nature of war. Therefore, we must remain persistent and endure.

The difference is that we are not alone in these battles. The Lord is with us - the Mighty Man of War, the Lord of Hosts. Because He is with us, victory is assured. With Jesus we are not fighting for victory, but from victory.

No matter if it appears worse than how it initially started, we must continue to stand in faith, continually surrendering the battle to Him and trusting that He will carry us through - because He will.
