Building up the broken walls,
of my heart, of my spirit.
Removing layered debris -
burdens I still carry...
and I begin moving, and watching,
and praying.
Laying the bricks on the wall,
sweat-soaked and weary.
Weapons ready at my side,
for the lurking enemy.
I'm working, and watching,
and praying.
Raising up the gates of this city -
protecting my mind.
Raising up a song of deliverance
to El Shaddai.
So I worship, build community -
while I pray.
Oh city, magnificent city,
built brick, upon brick.
A symbol of endurance,
in the midst of unrest.
Keep advancing, and growing,
and praying.
My body, my spirit,
built on the Word and in prayer.
A walking testimony
of the trials that I've faced.
And I'll keep moving, staying,
and seeking...
the Builder of my walls -
in prayer.
Reflection:
There is a quiet work that happens within us - where brokenness once lay, and through prayer after prayer, a rebuilding takes place.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to pray without ceasing. It's an encouragement to keep going, even when it seems as though nothing is happening or the progress feels slow. Keep pressing in prayer, because in ways we may not yet see, God is already at work behind the scenes.
Prayer changes things. Prayer saves lives. Prayer rebuilds broken walls in our lives that we thought could never be restored again - brick upon brick.
James 5:16 (AMP) reminds us that the heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous person is able to accomplish much when put into action and made effective by God. It is dynamic and can have tremendous power. It reminds us that when we bring our prayers before Him, they are not empty words - they are active, effective, and deeply transformative.
So keep moving in prayer. Continue to stay in prayer. Never stop seeking the Lord in prayer.
